We are a growing company in the language solutions field in the New Orleans metropolitan area.
Greetings!
My name is Denise Franco Grimsley.
I am the proud founder and CEO of Words.Work, LLC.
I am a native of São Paulo, Brazil, but moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in September of 2003, and am still infatuated with this vibrant and unique city that will make you laugh, dance, and let us not forget, EAT!
At a very early age, I knew I was passionate about two things: helping others and languages.
Each time I was able to help someone accomplish a task, even minor ones, it would give me an incredible rush of happiness that motivated me to keep going.
When it comes to languages, I have always been eloquent, even as a child, enunciating words and making good use of grammar. As I grew up, I continuously excelled in the Portuguese language and the proper use of this complex and romantic tongue.
When I first came to the United States, I was an international student, eager to finally fulfill a lifetime dream of mine: learning how to speak, read, and write in the English language! I was so excited about it that I could not wait for school to start! I started self-teaching and accustoming myself very quickly into having conversations with people on my own although I did not fully speak their language. That is when I realized I had a God given gift - learning languages!
At the small school I was attending, I met several Spanish speaking individuals, and I fell in love with the Spanish language immediately. I was intent on learning Spanish from fellow students. I even proposed to the school principal, a native of Mexico, that I would teach him a little Portuguese if he taught me some Spanish.
As time went on, I wanted to strengthen my abilities in the English language. So, I enrolled at the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) at UNO, placing myself into the highest level offered, which I successfully completed and, as a result, passed the Michigan test. Nursing school was the next step for me. Therefore, I enrolled at Delgado Community College and completed all pre-requisite classes, including English 102 before being accepted into Charity School of Nursing in the fall of 2008.
Even though I was a semester shy from graduating as an RN, Nursing School taught me a great deal in the medical field and the healthcare system here in the U.S.
Throughout the years, I performed interpreting jobs that came my way sporadically. However, since 2017, I have dedicated myself solely as a trilingual interpreter and translator. I have acquired a great amount of technical vocabulary and experience in the medical and legal fields.
Currently, I am enrolled in the Certification Program for Medical and Legal Interpreter and Translator course at UNO (University of New Orleans) and I truly believe that this course will elevate my career to the highest standards of professionalism and accuracy.
I want to express my gratitude to you for considering Words.Work, your go-to language solutions company!
